Ceiling Lighting & Downlights
Lighting is half the reason to build a plaster ceiling. We plan the layout, do the wiring and install downlights, LED strips, T5 and cove lighting together with the ceiling, one crew, one schedule, no finger-pointing between contractors.

Why plan lighting with the ceiling?
Downlight holes, strip channels and wiring runs all live inside the ceiling void. Planned together, the ceiling design and the lighting reinforce each other: L-box drops align with strip runs, downlights land exactly over the sofa and dining table, and switches control sensible zones. Added later, the same work costs more and compromises more.
Our team handles the electrical wiring for the ceiling lighting as part of the installation, so the finished ceiling comes down to a single switch-on moment.
Getting the layout right
- Spacing, roughly one downlight per 4–5 m², evenly gridded, then tuned to the furniture plan
- Zoning, separate switching for general, feature and night-use lighting
- Colour temperature, warm white for living/bedrooms, cool or neutral for kitchens and workspaces
- Glare control, recessed fittings positioned to avoid TV and workspace reflections
- Future access, drivers and connections placed where they can be serviced

Frequently asked questions
How many downlights does my living room need?
A useful starting point is one downlight per 4–5 square metres, arranged evenly, then adjusted for furniture layout and how bright you like the room. We plan the exact layout during the site visit so light falls where you actually need it.
Warm white or cool white, which should I choose?
Warm white (2700–3000K) suits living, dining and bedrooms, relaxed and cosy. Cool white (5000–6500K) suits kitchens, work areas and offices where clarity matters. Many homes mix both by room, or choose neutral 4000K.
Can lighting be added to an existing plaster ceiling?
Usually yes. Downlights can be cut into an existing ceiling and wired through the ceiling void. L-box LED strips are easiest when planned with the ceiling, but retrofits are often possible, send us a photo to confirm.
Do your promotion packages include lights?
